Release notes

Share, transfer settings, and help

· Release: the next published release after v0.12.0

Three clearly separate ways to move things around, and a public help area that opens without setting up a model.

  • Share Private Local Chat: recommend the app with your device's share sheet, a copied link or a QR code. It always shares the public address https://privatelocal.chat/ and nothing from your chats or settings.
  • Transfer settings: review the endpoint, model and theme, then create a versioned link, QR code or settings file. An API token is included only if you choose, and it is encrypted with a password you pick. Tell the recipient the password separately.
  • Transfer chats and backups: exporting conversations and creating an encrypted backup are now named, reviewed steps, with the contents listed before the file is made. Provider settings travel separately through Transfer settings.
  • New Help, About, Privacy and Updates pages with a FAQ, troubleshooting steps and dated known issues. They are saved with the app, so they open offline once the app is saved on the device.

On-device chat without a graphics card

· Release v0.12.0

When the browser has no usable GPU, the smaller Qwen3.5-2B model now runs on the processor (WebAssembly) instead of being unavailable.

  • It is slower than a graphics card, and the app says so while it sets up.
  • It is not offered on iPhone or iPad, on devices reporting under 4 GB of memory, or without WebAssembly SIMD.
  • The larger Qwen3.5-9B model still needs a GPU.

Voice conversation, steadier downloads

· Release v0.11.0

Speak to the app and hear replies, and recover on their own from stalled downloads and old saved copies.

  • Voice conversation listens, sends after a pause and reads the reply aloud sentence by sentence.
  • Dictation clears when you send, so late words never land in the next message.
  • A download that makes no progress for two minutes is restarted by itself and reuses the files already saved.
  • An old saved copy of the app repairs itself when a newer version is published.

Everyday chat features, storage and backups

· Release v0.8.0

Rendered answers with message controls, search, projects, documents, personal instructions and memory, plus readiness, storage, encrypted backups and an app lock.

  • Attach text, Markdown, CSV, code and text-based PDF files; they are read on your device.
  • Downloaded, loaded and ready-for-offline are shown as separate facts.
  • Back up chats, create an encrypted backup protected by a passphrase, or lock the app with a passphrase screen.
  • PDF reading was fixed on older Safari versions.

More reliable model downloads and offline use

· Release v0.6.0

Interrupted downloads resume, verified files are kept, and the model loads when the download finishes.

  • Each file is retried on transient failures without losing files already verified.
  • An installed offline update can be activated with an explicit reload.
  • The Stop control stays available during generation.
